Long before Independence Day was even a glimmer in Roland Emmerich’s eye, the earth was invaded by an army of hungry lizards with a penchant for big hair and a poor eye for fashion. NBC’s famous mini-series turned television drama V may have not lasted long, but it sure was cheesy fun. It also gave the science fiction universe one of the best villains of all time - the sexy, hamster eating Diana.

Fast forward 20 years and Variety reports we’re in for another visit from the invading iguana hordes courtesy of V co-creator and executive producer Scott Peters. Peters won two Emmy awards for his work on “The 4400″ so perhaps this time around V won’t be such a stinker. As long as the over-acting is kept in check, Peters gets a bigger budget and senior citizen sunglasses don’t figure into the picture, the new version could be a just what the doctor ordered. Throw in an updated plot about lizard / human cross breeding and all the kids are bound to tune in. Fun!
