Dave’s back from Macworld and so we’re back at warp speed this week with our picks for our favorite alien species from science fiction. We wax episodic about the Ferengi, the Borg, Jawas and many others of your favorite little green men from movies and television.

With Dave away at Macworld, Ged & Jen pick up the microphone and run with it. We talk about this week’s notable news entries in the world of science fiction and fantasy and then launch into a discussion what sci-fi we’d love to see re-imagined ala Battlestar Galactica.
This week Dave, Jen & Ged discuss the premiere of SyFy’s new series about a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost – Being Human. We also talk about the excellent science fiction installment of The Pioneers of Television on PBS and lament the epic horror of the Star Wars prequels yet again thanks to Mr. Plinkett’s definitive video reviews.
How far we have fallen! Two television shows that should warm our hearts – Caprica and Blood and Chrome — have the opposite effect. While the former left us as bored as a robot with nothing to do but stand in an underground lab, B&C clings tenaciously to BSG’s coattails. Please, someone destroy SyFy’s resurrection ship before it further violates our Battlestar memories (I think Lucas has one too).
We also chat about V, Big Bang Theory, Tron (The Dude enjoys special effects), The Hobbit, and Jen & Dave’s constant bickering.
As usual, our show is replete with spoilers. If you don’t want to know about the Caprica finale, how Frodo will be worked into The Hobbit, the season 1.5 premiere of V, the point of Tron (was there one?) or other scandalous facts, just move on.
Show notes
First off, we’ve re-submitted to iTunes, and we’ll let you know when we’re back. Second, if you want to skip the Caprica spoilers, you’ll hear Dave’s prompt to turn the volume down. Turn it back up at 4:25.

For your reference, it’s episode 13 that features Jen’s epic anti-vampire rant.
The reunion show! All four original members — Ged, Krystyn, Jen and Dave — are back and ready to discuss the latest in science fiction television and movies. In this episode, the gang discusses the return of Caprica, The Event, George Lucas’ decision to re-release the live action Star Wars movies in 3D and ABC’s V. It’s 40 minutes of fun, nearly 1 year in the making!
Warning! We discuss the details of V including spoilers. If you’re not caught up, listen at your own risk.

The usual gang of Jen, Dave & Ged are joined this week by senior contributor to MacUser and popular blogger, Scott McNulty, to discuss Ron Moore’s return to BSG – Caprica. In a classic bit of hurry up and wait, the SciFi Channel has seen fit to release the pilot now, even though the show won’t air until sometime in 2010. We discuss the finer points of baby cylons, kids who need haircuts and try to figure out what’s the deal with all the nipples.
Warning: Episode 32 contain spoilers for the premiere movie, Caprica, so if you don’t want to know how cylons were born or why robots in the future don’t have arms, don’t listen.

This week, Jen, Ged and Dave are joined by their special guest Mike Rose of MJM Creative and The Unofficial Apple Weblog to talk about the effect of nostalgia in sci-fi. With all of the remakes and “re-imaginings” happening in Hollywood lately, it’s hard for old-time fans like us to enter the theater with an open mind.

Episode 30 is a biggie as it marks the 1 year anniversary of The Sci-Fi Cast! We celebrated with a discussion of The Best of the Worst, those movies and TV shows we watch if only to enjoy the horribleness.
Also, we’re joined by our special guest Chris Ulrich, member of the Director’s Guild of America, co-host of The Flickcast and prolific blogger.
Of course, Jen, Ged and Dave bring you the week’s science fiction news, trivia and a new episode of “Truth Or Sci-Fi!” Enjoy!

It’s episode number 29, and we’re talking about our experiences at science fiction conventions. Find out about Sailor Moon Guy and hear from a real Klingon bartender. Jen’s friend Ginny is our special guest and shares her incredible stories as well.
This episode also introduces our new game, “Truth Or Sci-Fi!” Given descriptions of three B-level movies (two of which we completely made up), could you pick out the one that will actually air on the SciFi Network?
